Posted by Mark Merrifield on

We've been unwrapping all the LOVE RECORD STORES EVENT stock for this Saturday from 9am - which all looks amazing, esp, the King Gizzard Ecowax selection!!!  This is an online only version of Record Store Day to give us Independent Record Shops, Labels and Artists a boost during these strange times!

As well as 80+ super limited, rare releases on coloured vinyl to choose from there's a 24 hr online party of sessions (including The Winchester Three - aka our faves This is the Kit, Rozi Plain and Rachael Dadd - as part of the Memphis Industries sessions from 11am), DJ sets & more curated by Love Record Stores ambassador Tim Burgess. New releases out Friday 19th June include one of our favourites of the year so far Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher we've been loving her song Kyoto uplifting indie rock with added brass band sounds great to us. We also have a new double album from Bob Dylan (cd is due, vinyl is pre-ordered for July). Neil Young is finally releasing his long lost 70s album Homegrown on CD and we currently have a couple of copies of the rare RSD LP version in stock too here. There are also new releases from Jennifer Touch, New Found Glory, The Spitfires, Darkstar, Turbonegro's Han Von Hell, a Green Gartside 7" and a special edition 10th Anniversary edition of National's High Violet and also a rare David Bowie - Space Oddity Picture Disc.

Also new In - The Who - Live at Hyde Park on triple 180gm red, white & blue vinyl.

Today we've had a new album arrive from excellent Lincoln psych folk artist Belle & The Woodland Sounds with her beautiful new 2nd album Forest Floor released by Lincoln Collective Weird Garden. Available in the shop & on this site.

This week we've been listening a lot to early 70s Scottish acid folk singer Shelagh McDonald so was even more poignant to hear of her collaborator jazz pianist Keith Tippett's passing (RIP Keith!).

One of our favourite venues The Hull Adelphi is releasing a limited edition poster from a famous gig of theirs, a different poster each week for the next 30 weeks, starting with the mighty Pavement who played there in 1999, well worth a look.

Additions to the pre-orders see a fantastic Bob Marley Legend LP Picture Disc and Laura Marling's magnificent new LP Song For Our Daughter is out on 10 July.

We're preparing to be back open this coming Wednesday 24 July from 10am - look forward to welcoming you (from a socially responsible distance) then.

Have a good week. Regards Mark
