RECORD STORE DAY 2025 is not long away on Saturday 12th April and they are announcing the official UK list of this year's rare releases TONIGHT (Thurs 6 Feb) from 6pm on: www.recordstoreday.co.uk
Can't wait to see what sonic treasures will be unearthed!!! :)
New In Store this week...
Brighton post punk band 'Squid pulls no punches with Cowards, a prickly piece from a rock outfit pushing as far as they can. Lead single Crispy Skin remains an album of ideas contained in a behemoth of a song, while follow-up Building 650 grips those foreign lands and the experience of a new identity in a fresh place.'
Clear vinyl version and CD available from Friday 7th February 2025
'From the off, the self titled Sharon Van Etten and The Attachment Theory is sonically different from Van Etten’s previous work. Writing and recording in total collaboration with her band for the first time, Van Etten finds the freedom that comes by letting go. The result of that liberation is an exhilarating new dimension of sound and songwriting. The themes are timeless, classic Sharon – life and living, love and being loved – but the sounds are new, wholly realized and sharp as glass.'
'Amber Galaxy' vinyl out 7th Feb
English singer songwriter Vashti Bunyan's 1970 folk debut Just Another Diamond Day sold very few copies when it was released causing Vashti to abandon music until 2000, by which time her debut had been rediscovered to wide acclaim. She then recorded and released Lookaftering in 2005.
'To mark the occasion of its 25th anniversary, and also Vashti’s 80th birthday, an expanded edition is released. As well as the original studio album itself, the second disc features demo versions, alternate takes, and live performances of all the original album tracks. This edition also comes with sleeve notes from Vashti, producer Max Richter, Devendra Banhart and a 16-page lyric booklet featuring a collection of paintings by Vashti's daughter Whyn Lewis'
Double LP and CD available
'Enter Now Brightness feels different for New Zealand musician Nadia Reid. It is an album, she says, of departure and questioning, that has reminded her how songwriting can be “the most useful thing to do with pain and joy and thoughts and feelings and anger.” That through music we can find great change. “I’m so much better off now that it exists,” she says. “Now feels like a new time.” On this record, Reid moves ever further from her earlier folk inclinations, establishing a sound that is distinctly her own.'
Pink LP out Fri 7th
'Norwegian folky indie pop artist Sondre Lerche releases an early demo tracks CD on his own label. A first glance of his early aspirations, Sondre Lerche was already showcasing an intimate, clear and warm voice, inspired by the likes as Cat Stevens, Nick Drake and Elvis Costello.'
Out Friday 7th February
'Into The Great Wide Yonder, the second album of Danish multi instrumentalist and producer Anders Trentemøller and the follow up of the highly successful The Last Resort (2006). Just like his debut, which struck a chord with new audiences all around the world, Into The Great Wide Yonder is a truly remarkable album, offering as much depth and soul as it’s predecessor yet sounding ultimately fresh and different. Above all, the ten tracks show an artist that’s willing to take risks, find inspiration in new place and move beyond the sound of his previous album.'
'Formidable South London auteur Heartworms releases her highly anticipated debut album Glutton For Punishment - on Speedy Wunderground. Produced by longtime collaborator Dan Carey, Glutton For Punishment combines the propulsive, motorik tendencies of gothic stalwarts Depeche Mode, with the lyrical dexterity of PJ Harvey, and the off-kilter rhythms of LCD Soundsystem into a powerful sonic onslaught that is entirely Heartworms.'
Biig Piig is London-based songwriter Jess Smyth, who, since 2017, has made smoldering hip-hop and neo-soul jams with homespun production.
11:11 is available on clear vinyl and CD thus Friday 7th.
Also new in store...
'RESTORATION' the debut album from RØRY aka English musician Roxanne Emery.
'RØRY has one hell of a history, a winding complexity of addiction, grief, and even an entirely different music career. Now six years sober with a life she never saw coming, debut album RESTORATION wrangles with all the demons she managed to conquer to get here.
Mixing a core of guitars and vocals brushed with Kate Bush-esque yodels with rap with trap beats, RØRY utilises the mediums that best suit the stories she’s trying to share, amping up the aggression when laying bare the frustrations of broken systems and isolation. Speaking from the point of view of inner pain on its opener, she sets us up for her replies on the following nine tracks.' Kerrang
'In the Spring of 2024, Texas trio USA/Mexico crossed the pond for only the second time, playing just three shows in three days, taking in Geneva, Paris and London. This album Live In Paris is the result. A brutal, dirge fest recorded live in Paris. No song titles, just slabs of hellish noise.
Who are they? Craig Clouse (Shit And Shine, Todd) King Coffey (Butthole Surfers) Nate Cross (Marriage, Water Damage)'
White vinyl release limited to 300 copies
'Grammy-winning, influential, and cultural tastemaker, Anderson .Paak is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer known for his unique blend of R&B, hip-hop, funk, and soul. He first gained significant recognition with his debut album Venice in 2014. While some of his older material is perhaps reminiscent of break-looped, J DIlla-indebted beat work, .Paak's debut album Venice saw him utilising harder and faster sounds such as the marching hi-hats and microwaved vocals that dominate nightclub sets along both US coasts.'
10th anniversary edition.

Next up at Louth Film Club is Estonian/Icelandic film Driving Mum
'In the remote reaches of Iceland, Jon’s mother dies. To fulfil her last wish, he feels obliged to take her dead body, seated upright in his ageing banger, on a journey that turns out to address his life in an unusual way. It is no horror film, though. The poetic filming and ghost-like music create a strange and longing atmosphere.'

Hi Mark,
The 1978 copy of “Adventure” by Television is very good. Superb album and sounds great. Many thanks.
