Sigur Ros, Slowdive, Royal Blood, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, Neil Young with Crazy Horse
Posted by Lee Conybeare on
'Following it’s surprise digital release, Sigur Rós’ first new studio album in ten years, ÁTTA, is their most intimate and emotionally direct record to date.
Few bands cut through the noise and distractions of the world to bring you a pure elemental truth or feeling like Sigur Rós. As you hear on ÁTTA, there’s a new compulsion and drive to the band that comes with the new formation of the line up. Multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson is back in the fold – having left the band in 2012 – to join frontman Jónsi and bassist Georg Holm.'
Royal Blood release their fourth album Back To The Water Below.
'From the very beginning, Royal Blood’s story has been one of two life-long friends whose shared passion and dedication for writing and performing has led them on a remarkable adventure together – a story that has yet to be repeated, and is a feat as rare as it is remarkable. Long before Royal Blood were even formed, they spent years together in various bands playing to half empty bars around Brighton - and only then did they suddenly become a decade-in-the-making overnight success story. One day they were plotting how to recoup the meagre £300 they had spent on their first recording, but within a year they were at the top of UK album charts, storming Glastonbury and winning the BRIT Award for Best British Group.'

Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons - Kings of the Asylum
'Phil Campbell commented “It’s been a great experience writing this album alongside Joel and the rest of my lads. We’ve come up with some monstrous riffs and hooks for your listening pleasure. We can’t wait to play some of these songs at some of our old favourite towns and cities and visiting some new places too!” Joel Peters added: “I’ve had great fun working on this album alongside Phil and the boys and this is an album I am immensely proud of! Looking forward to everyone hearing it and touring these songs for the first time! We’ve got some definite bangers here!”

Neil Young with Crazy Horse - Odeon Budokan
'A live album recorded in 1976 during a tour with Crazy Horse. Side A is Neil Young solo acoustic from Hammersmith Odeon, London; on Side B, Neil is joined by Crazy Horse at The Budokan in Tokyo. 10 amazing performances of classic Neil Young songs, including the rare “Stringman”. This album is included on CD in Neil’s Archives Volume II, but this is the debut release on vinyl.'
'Everything Is Alive, Slowdive’s 5th record, is exactly what the title suggests: an exploration into the shimmering nature of life and the universal touch points within it. While there are parts of this record that could sit neatly next to the atmospheric quality of 1995’s Pygmalion; everything is alive also manages to break down the boundaries of what’s come before it. Spanning psychedelic soundscapes, pulsating 80’s electronic elements and John Cale inspired journeys, the album lands immediately as something made for 2023 and beyond.'
Pale Pink Vinyl
'In Blood is London metal band Hey Colossus' 14th album and the follow-up to 2020’s critically acclaimed Dances/Curses.
The album is a calling card for the band in their 20th anniversary year. As odd and challenging as long-term fans would expect or hope for, but somehow more accessible and to the point than ever before. It is the closest the group have ever come to a pop record, radiating positivity through the murk like a small ray of light in some very dark and very weird times. Music can never entirely negate these feelings but, like the natural world referenced in the lyrics and sleeve, it invisibly bonds people together, lifting us up if we choose to let it.'

Beverly Glenn Copeland - Primal Prayer - reissue
'First released in 2004 under the pseudonym Phynix, Primal Prayer’s 8 tracks are a wildly creative fusion of jazz, world, dance and classical influences. Sonically the album is almost without comparison, a life-affirming acknowledgement of the many paths we humans walk to enable us to open our hearts and lives to each other...The black double vinyl includes a personal note from Romy (The xx) on the back sleeve, and it features ‘La Vita’, as sampled by Romy in her single ‘Enjoy Your Life’ earlier this year.'
'Marking the 10th anniversary, The 1975 have a compiled a 4LP package, for the first time putting together all the non-album tracks from the highly collectable and desirable EPs (Facedown, Sex, Music For Cars & IV) these EPs go for high amounts on line and are highly desirable.
This 4LP black vinyl package packaging houses four 12”x 12” inserts featuring unseen images, new notes and intros from each member, a real collector’s item for fans.'
