New In Store This Week!

Oxford musician Willie J Healey counts Alex Turner, Joe Talbot of Idles, Florence Welch and Jamie T among his fans. New album Bunny 'sees Willie dive headfirst into a style of music he has always loved, but that never previously found its way into his own songs. It’s a low-slung, sensual ‘70s-style jam which simultaneously calls to mind Sly and The Family Stone, Philly soul, Midnite Vultures-era Beck and a little OutKast.'

Indies exclusive clear vinyl available

Always - The Very Best Of Erasure is a compilation that was issued to celebrate 30 years of the band, which bought the story bang up to date.

2LP - First time on vinyl. Presented as a double heavyweight vinyl package, this version includes their biggest singles including ‘A Little Respect’, ‘Oh L’Amour’ and ‘Sometimes’ as well

Americana singer songwriter Hiss Golden Messenger releases new album Jump For Joy this week. 'For the Grammy-nominated musician, whose albums have traced an internal path through adulthood, fatherhood, spirituality, and depression for well over a decade, this is something new...The songs that make up Jump for Joy the sharpest and most autobiographical that Taylor has written under the Hiss name read as a sort of epistolary, postcards between the present-day songwriter and his alias Michael Crow, a teenaged dreamer very much like Taylor himself, who trips his way through the 14 tunes that make up the record.'

British Sea Power

'Rough Trade Records reissue Sea Power’s Man Of Aran score on vinyl for the first time.

In 2009 the band, then known as British Sea Power, were commissioned by the Edinburgh Film Festival to create their own soundtrack for the 1934 quasi-documentary, which they premiered by playing along live during a screening at the event.

Described by The Independent On Sunday as “chiming perfectly with BSP’s fascination with lost ways of life”, that band also found Man Of Aran resonated strongly with audiences when they performed the soundtrack live'

Yellow and blue vinyl

'Texas-bred singer / songwriter and Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek releases his new album, Haunted Mountain. His first release for 4AD, Meek also shares the lead single and title track, ‘Haunted Mountain’, a song co-written alongside his friend and long-time hero Jolie Holland.'

Limited edition green vinyl

'Out this week, the 10th anniversary of Kurt Vile's fifth full-length and first 2xLP, Wakin on a Pretty Daze (2013). To celebrate this milestone, Matador have brought the record back as a yellow vinyl version of the record.

Where previous albums alternated between gorgeous fingerpicking and heavy guitar workouts, ‘Wakin’ blended the two into dreamy and expansive songs that frequently stretched well out beyond the five-minute mark.

Back then we said: “It’s a record that would have sounded great 30 years ago, sounds great today, and will still sound great 30 years from now.” Ten years down the line, we’re still confident that ‘Wakin’ will deliver the goods – yesterday, today, and in 2043.'

Limited edition yellow double vinyl

'Repress alert. 5 track EP by Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins) and Damon Reece (Spiritualized, Massive Attack, Lupine Howl). Pressed on black vinyl, housed inside a single sleeve jacket and printed inner sleeve.

Sun’s Signature is the current project from vocalist Elizabeth Fraser and percussionist Damon Reece. Life and musical partners, their eponymous debut EP is released in 2022 through Partisan Records. Highly evolved, yet simultaneously primal - it’s an utterly original, compelling and genre-defying collection of songs that has developed through an Alice in Wonderland journey through life and music.'

Marbled yellow 12" vinyl

Defeat by Animal Collective 12"

'This 22-minute Animal Collective epic is an unapologetic ode to perseverance and hope, to “staying grounded like the spruce” when the very land seems to shift beneath us. Recorded in three phases by Russell Elevado (D’Angelo, Alicia Keys, Al Green) in the analogue wonderland of The Bunker, ‘Defeat’ springs from that hurdy-gurdy haze into a pop explosion, suggesting fight music for our shared future. The song’s slow-motion finale feels like a fantasia vision of what’s to come - a quieter place where we can thrive together, not apart. This is the beautiful and redemptive saga of the Animal Collective condensed into one unforgettable suite, a song for holding fast even as the world spins ahead, ever faster.'

Auger Incorporated is a career spanning double CD compilation of the legendary Brian Augers’ music. Lauded and loved by artists as diverse as Mose Allison to Emma-Jean Thackray, his tracks have been sampled by Mos Def and Common, his original compositions covered by Sarah Vaughan, Richard 'Groove' Holmes and The Main Ingredient. He is a Grammy nominee and recipient of a US Congressional Certificate of Special Recognition for his ‘contribution to the American art form of Jazz’.

Coming soon!

Brooklyn based artist Kendra Morris 'has collaborated with MF Doom, Czarface, Ghostface Killah, Dennis Coffey, and more...I Am What I’m Waiting For  is Kendra’s most personal album to date... “My heart has always been in soul music,” she shared. “On this record, you’ll hear my influences and then some. You’ll hear all the bits of me….the vulnerable bits, the silly bits, all of it. This record is my melting pot.”

Matt McGuinness's show We Are What We Overcome at Louth Riverhead Theatre was postponed in March but will take place on 15th September.

'Combining upbeat music with thought provoking comedy and stories, We Are What We Overcome is one man’s journey to good mental health via a very bad idea.

Matt delivers personal, difficult, and eclectic stories interjected with original songs performed by a live band. The show moves fluidly through a mix of heartfelt stories, self-deprecating humour and original songs.'
