Happy New Year 2026!

A massive thanks for all your custom over the last 12 months. 2025 was a bumper year for OTBT in so many ways, the shop is buzzing and our valued customers are right at the heart of that, so thank you. The team here at OTBT are looking forward to seeing what this year brings...

This week in store we are excited about Dry Cleaning, The Cribs, Hamnet OST, Fotheringay BBC Sessions

'Secret Love is the finest expression yet of the profound friendships that created Dry Cleaning, between frontperson Florence Shaw, guitarist Tom Dowse, drummer Nick Buxton and bassist Lewis Maynard. Here, the south London four-piece take their place in rock’s avant garde, catalysing the Reaganite paranoia of early 80s US punk and hardcore with the dry strut of Keith Richards, stoner rock, dystopian degradation, playful no wave and pastoral fingerpicking, while Florence’s delivery, meticulously calibrated to her bandmates’ soundscapes, asserts her in a lineage of spoken-word artists stretching from Laurie Anderson to Life Without Buildings’ Sue Tompkins.'

Apricot coloured vinyl and CD available - we have Signed Prints from the band with the first few copies bought!

The Cribs return with their first album in five years ‘Selling A Vibe’, released via Play It Again Sam.

'After two decades and nine albums as one of Britain’s best-loved bands, the Wakefield-born siblings have weathered enough storms, onstage and off, to realise that an indestructible bond exists between them. For years, it’s fizzed beneath the surface of their sound, perforating every thrash of guitar, every snap of snare, every impassioned vocal, roared back at them at live shows by sweat-drenched, devoted crowds. But rarely have the band acknowledged this bond out loud. “It’s not something we ever really said to each other explicitly,” admits bassist and lead vocalist Gary. That all changed, however, with the creation of Selling A Vibe – their bold new album, which captures The Cribs at their bottle-rocket energetic best.'

Green vinyl version available

Maggie O' Farrell's 2020 novel Hamnet is based on the family of William Shakespeare, in particular his wife, known as Agnes in the book, and their son Hamnet. It is a stunningly good read and this month the much anticipated film version is released with the lead roles played by Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. Catch it at Louth Playhouse this week.

Max Richter's score for the film is out o Friday 9th January on vinyl and CD.

A gem for folk fans...

'Trevor Lucas and Gerry Conway were members of the folk-rock group Eclection, who released an album in August 1968 on Elektra Records. After the group disbanded in 1969, they formed Fotheringay with Lucas's girlfriend Sandy Denny, who had recently left Fairport Convention. The Fairports were recording mostly traditional folk material at this time and Denny left the group so that she could perform more of her own compositions. The BBC session on Side One of this LP features songs from the first Fotheringay album and took place at the Playhouse Theatre on April 13th 1970. The songs on Side Two were recorded at BBC’s Maida Vale Studios in November 1970. '

Fotheringay - Two Sessions for the BBC is out now on vinyl.

Emmanuel Courcol / France / 2025 / 103 mins / Cert. 15 / Subtitled

Ingredients: two long-lost brothers who meet, an orchestra, a struggling factory. Method: mix in one saucepan and whisk, though give the brothers refreshed common ground. Result: a charming, well-paced comedy-drama to cheer up January… with an added je ne sais quoi. Enjoy.
