New arrivals in store this week...

Soft Machine's Third

'Among the most important and influential progressive rock bands of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, Soft Machine initially featured a line-up of Louth's own Robert Wyatt (drums, vocals), Kevin Ayers (bass, guitar, vocals), Daevid Allen (guitar) and Mike Ratledge (organ). Emerging from the UK (Canterbury) underground in 1967, they featured prominently at epoch-making London venues such as the UFO Club and Middle Earth to establish a powerful reputation over the next decade with a series of accomplished albums and some innovative concert performances; notably in the UK and France...

'''Marking the beginning of their journey away from their psychedelic roots and into jazz and contemporary electronic music, it is unconventional to an extreme, consisting of four stunning side-long compositions, and is universally regarded as not just their best record but one of the best progressive rock albums ever recorded; one that pushed the boundaries of genre without being pretentious.'

After two albums for ABC/Probe, they signed to CBS with a line-up consisting of Wyatt, Ratledge, saxophonist Elton Dean and bassist Hugh Hopper, releasing this, their most successful long player, and probably their last classic album as a group in 1970. The same year they played the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, the first time a 'popular' band played the traditionally Classical Festival. The album features Robert's uniquely epic Moon In June.

Pavement - Pavements

Compiled by Pavements producer/editor Robert Greene and the band, the soundtrack ropes together disparate elements of the film – dialogue snippets, scenes from the fake Oscar-bait biopic Range Life, and cast recordings from the Slanted! Enchanted! jukebox musical as well as live and rehearsal recordings from the group’s 2021 reunion tour. The full-band performances were mixed by Bryce Goggin, who worked on Pavement classics Crooked Rain Crooked Rain, Wowee Zowee, and Brighten the Corners.

Double album and CD versions available

Also out this Friday 14th November is Pavement's Hecklers

'Hard to believe we made it, but here we are. A sold-out reunion. Gold records. A critically-lauded feature film. Stockton, CA’s finest are once again seated atop the throne and Pavement is the biggest band in the world, North America, the coastal United States. And yet, we get the sense there’s still a lot of people who don’t know who the hell they are. Thus, Matador Records release Hecklers Choice, Pavement’s second-ever “best of” compilation. Look, it’s been more than a decade. Back when Quarantine the Past came out in 2010, TikTok wasn’t a thing. This newly revamped track-list accounts for any/all viral sensations that have emerged hence (“Harness Your Hopes”) while continuing to rep the timeworn tunes that have remained playlist and mixtape staples for in-the-know-types across generations.'

Woman Of Faces is the second studio album from Celeste. The highly anticipated record features singles ‘Time Will Tell’ and ‘On With The Show’ and was produced by multi-Grammy award winner Jeff Bhasker.
