Legendary labels Decca Records and Blue Note have joined forces for Blue Note Re:imagined; a brand new collection of classic Blue Note tracks brought together for the first time, reworked and newly recorded by a selection of the jazz scene’s most exciting young talents today. This week's release is a 7" single from Jorja Smith. Alongside Smith’s reworking of Rose Rouge is Ezra Collective’s version of Wayne Shorter’s Footprints.
A reissue collection of twenty-two original songs recorded for Julian Temple’s 1986 film Absolute Beginners is out this Friday. The film cast included Patsy Kensit, David Bowie, Eddie O’Connell, Ray Davies, Sade, James Fox, Mandy Rice-Davies and Steven Berkoff (with ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ cameos from Sandie Shaw, Eric Sykes and Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli). The soundtrack album boasts three songs by David Bowie (including the theme song, a 1986 number 2 single) that weren’t included on any of his studio albums.

Last week the sensational musician & composer Ennio Morricone sadly passed away aged 91. In 2016 he was the oldest person to win an Academy Award when he won an Oscar for his film score to Tarantino's Hateful Eight.
The Paris/Bristol based community project The Fantasy Orchestra uploaded their tribute to the great man with their version of Metti, Una Sera A Cena, saying 'The Music of Ennio Morricone is what brought us together in the first place and the spirit of this music stays with us through all we do.'
