In a great week for new music we have releases from...

Pulp - More

This is the first Pulp album since We Love Life in 2001. Yes: the first Pulp album for almost 24 years.

The album was recorded over 3 weeks by James Ford in Walthamstow, London, starting on November 18th, 2024. This is the shortest amount of time a Pulp album has ever taken to record. It was obviously ready to happen.

It was written and performed by four human beings from the North of England, aided and abetted by five other human beings from various locations in the British Isles. No A.I. was involved during the process.

The album is dedicated to Pulp's bassist the late Steve Mackey who passed away in 2023.

Out Friday 6th June, Various formats - coloured and standard vinyl, CD and cassette available now

'This summer, the briliiant Little Simz returns with her 6th 'Lotus'.. The record marks an exciting new chapter in her artistic journey, drawing from an expansive palette of musical influences including punk, jazz, afrobeat and more. True to form, Simz continues to push boundaries and defy genre constraints, creating a sound that's both innovative and distinctly her own.'

Out 06/06/2025 Pink vinyl and CD available

'British guitar virtuoso and powerhouse singer-songwriter Joanne Shaw Taylor returns with her electrifying 10th studio album, Black and Gold. Reuniting with legendary producer Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, Journey, Joe Bonamassa), Taylor pushes the boundaries of blues rock, weaving in threads of Americana, indie rock, and retro '80s pop. From heart-wrenching ballads to hard-hitting blues rock bruisers, the album is a masterclass in emotional depth and raw energy.'

Out 06/06/2025

Gold marbled vinyl and CD available

'PRINCESS OF POWER is the feverishly anticipated sixth studio album from pop star Marina. Inspired by the superpower that is love, it marks the internationally acclaimed and award-winning artists first independent release. The album explores the concepts of power and leadership for a new generation. Its a record that is built on the belief that love doesnt make us weak, its something to be empower by and celebrated.'

Ltd Butterfly yellow vinyl & Cd available - out 6th June

Danish metal band Volbeat is back! With “By a Monster's Hand,” the Danish rock giants present the first single from their album, God Of Angels Trust. The song combines modern influences with Volbeat's unmistakable signature sound. “By a Monster's Hand” is the perfect introduction to an album full of power and electrifying rock anthems!

CD out 06/06/2025

There's more Scandi metal out this week, from long standing Swedish band Katatonia who are releasing Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State

'Once again, the Stockholm-based unit masterfully navigates the tightrope act between nocturnal darkness and Scandinavian despair while subtly weaving a sense of hope into the listener’s heart.'

CD and vinyl out 6th June

A treat for country music fans...

'Five-time Grammy-winner Mary Chapin Carpenter’s newest studio album, Personal History, deals with just this. The album features some of Carpenter’s most personal writing to date...In early 2025 the 11-song album Personal History was recorded at Real World Studios in Box, England, with Josh Kaufman (Bob Weir, The National, The Hold Steady) producing and a world-class band of musicians: Matt Rollings (piano, Hammond organ, Phillips organ, accordion, xylophone), Duke Levine (electric guitar, hammer dulcimer, Chris Vatalaro (drums, percussion), Cameron Ralston (bass), and Josh Kaufman himself (guitar, organ, harmonium, harmonica). Anais Mitchell lends harmonies to 'Home Is A Song.'

Vinyl and CD versions are out Friday 6th June

'On July 10, 2024, Cypress Hill teamed up with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Troy Miller, to present a reimagining of their quadruple-platinum-selling Black Sunday album in its entirety, featuring unique orchestral arrangements inspired by the original recordings of DJ Muggs, along with a number of the band’s songs from their extensive catalog.

This landmark event merges the worlds of classical music and hip hop, adding soaring orchestrations to such classics and fan favourites including “Illusions,” “I Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That,” “(Rock) Superstar,” “Insane In The Brain,” and many more.'

Viny and CDs available

'Elbow's fifth EP, Audio Vertigo Echo Elbow EP 5 features 2024’s one-off release “Adriana Again,” alongside three brand-new and unheard tracks.

Guy Garvey describes the EP as “finishing something for the band in lots of ways. We are having more fun in the studio than ever before. Craig’s on fire as a producer, Pete and Alex are the coolest rhythm section working and Pot’s unpredictable rhythm guitar has started working its way into such a soulful and accomplished place.'

Two new Brian Eno releases have just landed... 'the legendary musician, producer, visual artist and activist who first came to international prominence in the early ‘70s as a founding member of the British band Roxy Music' has released his collaborations with Beatie Wolfe, Los-Angeles-based, British-American conceptual artist & activist. The resulting albums Luminal and Lateral are available on vinyl now.

'When Gary Moore stepped onto the stage of Basel's Baloise Session on November 13, 2008, it was a true one-off, showcasing one of blues-rock's biggest names on one of the worlds respected stages. Nobody in the crowd that night suspected the great Irish bluesman was close to the end. But when Moore passed away little over 2 years later, aged just 58, the show took on added poignancy, kept alive in the memories of those who attended.

Now, more then 15 years later, the release of Live From Baloise Session on Artone/Provogue resurrects the much-missed Irishman, bringing his blazing talents back into the spotlight, catching the sparks of that night, and bottling a performance that stands amongst Moore's very best.'

Out now on vinyl and CD

Bridget Hayden and the Apparitions - Cold Blows The Rain

'The reinterpreted traditional folk songs that make up Cold Blows The Rain are shaped by the land and the weather. Wrapped in mist and drizzle, the crawling drone of low heavy clouds on flat-top moors. The sound of the dark Calder Valley floor and sun starved hills in West Yorkshire in the North of England.

A must for fans of Karen Dalton, ØXN, Shirley Collins and Lisa O'Neill - it's found a home on local Todmorden label Basin Rock (Jim Ghedi, Myriam Gendron, Michael Chapman, Juni Habel, Trevor Beales).'

Big Thief have announced their sixth studio album, Double Infinity, on 4AD to be released on 5th September

'Double Infinity is the follow-up to 2022’s Grammy-nominated album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, recorded last winter at the Power Station, New York City. For three solid weeks, the trio would ride bicycles on frozen streets between Brooklyn and Manhattan, meeting in Power’s Station’s warm wood-panelled room. Together with a community of musicians (Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery, Mikey Buishas) they would play for nine hours a day, tracking together – simultaneously – improvising arrangements and making collective discoveries. Double Infinity was produced, engineered and mixed by longtime Big Thief collaborator Dom Monks.
