New Arrivals This Week

To celebrate its 40th anniversary R.E.M have reissued their 5 track EP Chronic Town as a limited edition picture disc - out Friday 19th August. Also available on CD.

Out this week is a standalone release of Neil Young and The Restless EP ‘Eldorado’ available for the first time on vinyl. 'Originally only released in Australia and Japan, the EP contained three different mixes of ‘Don’t Cry’, ‘On Broadway’ and ‘Eldorado’ from those that appeared later on Young’s Freedom album. It also featured ‘Cocaine Eyes’ and ‘Heavy Love’ which were unreleased recordings.'

Las Vegas rock band Panic! At The Disco release their seventh studio album, Viva Las Vengeance - limited edition coral vinyl and CD available.

This week sees a new release from British indie dance band Hot Chip - Freakout/Release is in stock on double brown vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. The album features Canadian rapper Cadence Weapon, British DJ and musician Lou Hayter and production work from Soulwax.

Bdrmm are a fantastic Hull shoegaze band, well worth checking out their back catalogue if you haven't come across them already. They have a new EP out this week, Port includes their recent single of the same name plus remixes by Daniel Avery, Working Men's Club and more.

Madonna - Finally Enough Love - #1s Remixed

Excellent and memorably named Aussie psych rock Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have just released their fifth album Night Gnomes

'Exploring the undiscovered territory of Night Gnomes has already made a major impact on its creators. “I have no idea what I’m doing half the time,” McEwan says. “It’s like, plug in, record. Why does this sound like shit but this other thing works? I needed five albums to get to this point of revealing some golden nuggets of information about dynamics, production and exploring new sounds. Everyone finds fault in their own work, but that’s probably what makes us want to keep creating.”

Or unless watching them brought you back to your formative days as an artist, when watching films fueled and soundtracked your songwriting jags and bare-bones home recordings and in turn inspired your 20th album to be a song cycle about the allure and futility of vengeance. But there’s no shame in not being like John Darnielle; few people are.'
