New In This Week...

Revenge of the She-Punks - A Feminist Music History Compilation Inspired by the Book by Vivien Goldman, 'Since the historiography of punk is a male-dominated one, a "Revenge of the She-Punks" was long overdue. This feminist reckoning was written by none other than post-punk pioneer Vivien Goldman, who has an insider's perspective due to her work as a musician and one of Britian's first female music writers. Along four themes - Identity, Money, Love and Protest - the "punk professor" traces empowering moments that punk holds especially for women.'

You might have noticed that there's a World Cup going on at the moment. Well Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds reckon it's coming home for Christmas. You can get their reissed Three Lions 7" single or as a cass-single and join in with the chorus.

The Wedding Present's 11th single in this year's 24 Songs series, Science Fiction/Plot Twist is out this week. Collect them all!

Themes From... is the second album as Nyx Nótt from Arab Strap's Aidan Moffat.

2 Many Dj's, Electronic - As Heard On Radio Soulwax Part Two is a newly reissued double album.

Tarja, Absolute - Best Of: Live the Dream - New 2LP, 'Tarja is a truly unique and iconic artist and, after parting ways with Nightwish, has built a formidable catalogue and a legion of loyal and energetic fans as a solo artist over the past 15 years.'

'In the first two decades of the 21st century, few have controlled the cultural weather quite like Stephen and David Dewaele. The Dewaeles are familiar to millions as 2manydjs, a project which undoubtedly moved the needle for modern DJing. In 2002, after a string of creative broadcasts on radio while still known primarily as a rock band, they released As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt. 2.'

The Guy Hamper Trio - All The Poisons in the Mud, 'Groovy Hammond garage rock instrumentals from Billy Childish (Thee Headcoats / CTMF etc) and featuring James Taylor (Prisoners/JTQ). For fans of  Booker T and The MGs, James Taylor Quartet, Georgie Fame, Big Boss Man.'

The Beatles - On Tour In Japan 1966 issued by 1960s Records.

The very sad news of Fleetwood Mac star Christine McVie's death broke last night. We've loved her music since the 80s when we were teenagers and Tango In The Night was all over the radio - Mark got to see her play at Maine Road in 1990 (thanks to my brother Stephen for buying my ticket!). She's one of the best songwriters ever and was still writing wonderful songs all the way up to 2017's Buckingham McVie record. RIP Christine McVie - we love you!
