The fifth album from Isle Of Eigg dwelling psych-pop wonder Pictish Trail is out now, 'a strange, unpredictable, sardonic and yet deeply personal record inspired by all from Fever Ray to The Flaming Lips, Liars, Mercury Rev and Beck.'

In September Placebo resurfaced from a long hibernation to release Beautiful James, their first single in five years – and first from the new album Never Let Me Go which is out 25th March. This week sees the release of (Guitar, Vocal) A Collection Of Unreleased and Rare Material 1967-1976 a 45th Anniversary re-issue of Richard Thompson’s 1976 collection of rarities with Fairport Convention, Linda Thompson and solo. Remastered and available on double 180 gram black vinyl.

(London-born Nigerian singer Eno Williams) Ibibio Sound Machine's Electricity 'was produced by the Grammy Award and Mercury Prize nominated British synthpop group Hot Chip, a collaboration born out of mutual admiration watching each other on festival stages, as well as a shared love of Francis Bebey and Giorgio Moroder.'

The result is a new self-titled album made with close collaborators from Bon Iver, The National and her own band Bonny Light Horseman, Mitchell’s first collection of all-new material under her own name since 2012’s Young Man in America.'

Andrew Willoughby at Alford Acoustics invites local musicians to take part in the first Alford Music and Arts Festival on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July.

The event will have 'a really exciting range performances, events, displays and workshops. There will be music, dance, drama, creative writing and poetry...'

Busking will be taking place in several venues over the weekend.
