A Taster of What's New In Store This Week...
Linkin Park are back with a new album From Zero
'Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix Farrell and Joe Hahn are joined by new members Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara as co-vocalist and Colin Brittain, a songwriter/producer for G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock, as drummer.
Right out of the gate, lead single "The Emptiness Machine" channels the DNA of Linkin Park, harnessing the band’s explosive energy and retaining the hallmarks of their instantly identifiable and inimitable sound. A chameleonic and catchy anthem, Shinoda’s hypnotic melodies hand off to Armstrong’s blistering chorus, over distorted riffs and head-nodding drums.
Ultimately, with From Zero, the band is looking to harness the purest energy of their past, present, and future. The new era has officially begun.'
CD and vinyl versions are out Friday 15th November
Iron Maiden's Powerslave is released as a Zoetrope picture disc.
'Powerslave is the fifth studio album by Iron Maiden, released on 3 September 1984 on EMI in Europe and its sister label Capitol Records in North America. It is notable for its Ancient Egyptian theme displayed in the cover artwork, lifted from the title track, which was carried over to the album's supporting tour. "The World Slavery Tour" began in Warsaw, Poland on 9 August 1984 – and is widely regarded as being the band's longest and most arduous to date – and also led to the live album Live After Death.'
The original sleeve has been expanded to gatefold and contains new artwork and exclusive notes from Steve Harris.
For fans of The Corrs we have two reissue releases on coloured vinyl for you this week.
'Borrowed Heaven comes a few years after the Greatest Hits collection and the Corr's last proper studio album, In Blue. It's easy to see it was time well spent as of the 12 new songs here there is very little filler and plenty of catchy, rousing choruses. Lead single and opener "Summer Sunshine" is jolly, guitar-driven, 80s pop-rock and, like much of the album, has a few quirky production gimmicks to fill out the verse while the chorus explodes into big drums and meaty guitar hooks.'
and
'Home is the fifth studio album by Irish band the Corrs. An Irish-themed album, it includes covers of old Irish songs and traditionals, but also covers of non-Irish songs such as "Heart Like a Wheel". It includes two tracks in Irish, "Buachaill Ón Éirne" and "Bríd Óg Ní Mháille".'
English electronic duo formed in 1988, The Orb release Orboretum: The Orb Collection, a career-spanning set including new and rare mixes, compiled by Dr. Alex Paterson.
“I don’t want The Orb to end up milking it like Roxy Music, who were always cranking out another best-of, although we did release the ‘History Of The Future’ best-of in 2013, and its part 2 in 2015 to be fair. We have such a gigantic catalogue though, that sometimes even I need a reminder of what I’ve done, especially these days. This is a sort of director’s cut, reframing our output, making new neuro pathways, and new juxtapositions. Some of these tracks are 30 years apart, but there are clear through lines, a continuum.” Alex Paterson
2CD - 6 panel 2CD with 24 page booklet.
