The Missing Brazilians' Warzone is 'another science fiction dancehall classic. Originally released in 1984, this is one of the most envelope- pushing records on the On-U Sound label: a rhythmic collision of noise, dub and electronics. Adrian Sherwood pushed the possibilities of the studio to the limit, capturing dystopian mid-80s cold war menace with layers of spatially- disorientating percussion, alien keyboard sounds and teeth-rattling distortion.  Features vocal contributions from Shara Nelson (Massive Attack) and Annie Anxiety (Crass Records).'

'Across eleven live tracks Taste show their instrumental abilities and leader Rory Gallagher demonstrates strong songwriting, apparent at even this early stage of his career. The tracks have been specially selected to complement the live Taste material already released. The majority of the songs were recorded for John Peel in 1968 and 1969 with two additional songs recorded for German TV at the Bilsen Jazz Festival.'

We had a family outing to The Welly in Hull to see The Lemonheads this week, which felt like I was in a time warp to be honest, hearing all those tracks from the early 90s! And it was great to see some friendly Louth faces at the gig, in fact there was obviously a fair contingent of Lincs folk in attendance as when we got the Humber Bridge the guy in the toll booth asked if we were going to see The Lemonheads!

It all got off to a great start with an acoustic solo set from Evan Dando. But soon after the band joined him on stage there were some fairly alarming sounding electrical issues coming from the stage, which understandably unnerved them but they played on through it rocking out to the It's A Shame About Ray album, as well as adding other Lemonheads material and covers. The support was brilliant too, an energetic Mississippi trio called Bass Drum of Death, well worth checking out. It was a memorable first time rock gig experience for my teenage kids and another reminder for us that you can't beat live music, even when it doesn't quite go to plan. The Lemonheads/Bass Drum of Death play Rock City, Nottingham this Friday night.

Louth Playgoers adaptation of Railway Children opened at the Riverhead Theatre, Louth last night and it's been recommended by a couple of customers today. It's on each evening at 7.30pm over the next 3 days till this Saturday 8 October. Find out more HERE
