NEW ARRIVALS

Loads of great stuff for you this week...

Superstar Beyonce is back with her new album Renaissance. The album 'includes dance and country leaning tracks, with contributions from songwriter Ryan Tedder and producer Raphael Saadiq. The album features influences from 1990s garage, 1980s "excess", and a "glittering retro-futurism." Beyoncé was paying attention to the works of MistaJam, David Asante, MNEK, Kamille, and Azealia Banks while brainstorming and referenced South African pop music honouring artists like Brenda Fassie.'

In stock now on CD. Vinyl version to follow soon - get in touch if you'd like to pre-order.

'Entering Heaven Alive is the fifth studio album from Jack White, founding member of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and The Dead Weather. True to his DIY roots, this record was recorded at White's Third Man Studio throughout 2021, mastered by Third Man Mastering, and released by Third Man Records.'

CD available, vinyl to follow next week!

'Breaking Bad is one of the most critically acclaimed television shows of all time. Following its premiere in 2008, the show's five-season run won 16 Emmy Awards. This special soundtrack contains a selection of defining songs from the series. The 2LP includes tracks by Dave Porter, Gnarls Barkley, J.J. Cale, Los Cuates de Sinaloa, The Beastie Boys, Badfinger, Nat King Cole and The Monkees amongst many others.'

Limited to 1500, double green vinyl.

The Elvis Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the music companion to the Warner Bros. Pictures biopic film Elvis, from Baz Luhrmann.

'The 22-track soundtrack includes plenty of A-list names across the musical spectrum, including Elvis himself, Doja Cat, Nardo Wick, Jack White, Chris Isaak, Eminem, Swae Lee, Diplo, Kacey Musgraves, Jazmine Sullivan, Tame Impala, Stevie Nicks, and many others.' CD version in stock now.

One of our favourite bands Half Man Half Biscuit release their latest album The Voltarol Years on vinyl this week.

'Few things are more likely to bring joy, laughter and indeed titular pain relief, especially now, than a new HMHB release, this 15th album decorated again with singalong tunes and the Wirral’s Nigel Blackwell’s incomparably brilliant lyrics, though here with death as a black-humoured running theme. This is the first album since 2018’s No One Cares About Your Creative Hub, So Get Your Fucking Hedge Cut, and the first on the indie band’s own label RM Qualtrough'. Song Bar

Nick Cave releases a new 10" Seven Psalms, ‘While in lockdown I wrote a number of psalms, or small, sacred songs—one a day for a week.

The seven psalms are presented as one long meditation—on faith, rage, love, grief, mercy, sex and praise. A veiled, contemplative offering borne of an uncertain time. I hope you like it.’ Nick Cave

1971's Here Comes Shuggie Otis was the debut album by the guitarist and songwriter, issued by Columbia, when Shuggie was only 18. Produced and arranged by his father, R&B legend Johnny Otis, the set features nine original cuts co-written by the pair. Limited edition marbled vinyl.

a

Mazzy Star, best known for their stunning track Fade into You 'which brought the band success in the mid-1990s and was the group's biggest mainstream hit, earning extensive exposure on MTV, VH1, and radio airplay' reissue their 1994 album Ghost Hunter on purple vinyl this week.

The Vaselines' 1989 album Dum Dum is reissued Fri 29th July, 'The influence of early Jesus and Mary Chain, the Pastels and above all the Velvet Underground are clearly discernible throughout, but each song bears the unique stamp of Kelly and McKee's partnership: slyly humorous, lo-fi, scrappily off-key and endlessly catchy, they tick off every box in the 1980s indie playbook without ever sounding like they're trying to.'

The Rolling Stones Let The Airwaves Flow Volume 6 (On Tour '64)  'All the tracks on this LP were recorded live in front of audiences everywhere from the sedate BBC radio studios to a full-blown riot in the Netherlands.'

The Beatles - Live At Wembley and Indiana 64 'The Beatles were at their peak as a live band in mid-1964. On Side One and part of Side Two is the whole of the 5pm September 3rd show at the Indiana State Fair, which was broadcast live on WIFE-AM.'

Both out now on black vinyl.

We've got a clutch of Oasis albums in stock - Heathen Chemistry, The Masterplan and Be Here Now. The 25th Anniversary edition of the latter is also available to pre-order.

Fleet Foxes' A Very Lonely Solstice is a 13-track career spanning collection recorded in December 2020, at Brooklyn, NY's St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church. Clear vinyl version available.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, R.E.M.’s debut EP CHRONIC TOWN will be released as a limited edition picture disc.

'Featuring such adored classics in the band’s repertoire as “Gardening At Night”, “Wolves, Lower” and “1,000,000,” the five song EP, as Rolling Stone noted, “served notice that R.E.M. was an outfit to watch.” As a debut release, R.E.M.’s Chronic Town was an anomaly… a record that didn’t quite fit into the constraints of what was played on the radio. So instead of trying to fit into a genre, R.E.M. helped create their own: College Rock.'

Out 19/08/2022

The iconic Pixies forged an influential path for alt-rock during their first era, while their post 2004 reunion has seen them alchemize more sophisticated dark arts - a return which has them add another three UK Top 10 albums to the three they achieved on their first run. Now as fired up as ever before, Pixies will release their eighth studio album ‘Doggerel’ on September 30th via BMG, including lead single ‘There’s a Moon On’.

Pre-order limited yellow LP or CD now.

As a fellow Chili Peppers fan said, 'you wait for a John Frusciante Chili Peppers album for many years and two double albums show up at once!'. Red Hot Chili Peppers released their double album Unlimited Love in April which marked their first recording with guitarist John Frusciante since 2006. It's fantastic news to hear that in October the band are releasing another double album Return Of The Dream Canteen.

'The surprise announcement was dropped at Denver’s Empower Field to rapturous response as the North American leg of their critically and commercially acclaimed global stadium tour kicked off...We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way. Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waist band of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream. When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well we figured it out. 2 double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. 'Return of the Dream Canteen' is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It’s packed. Made with the blood of our hearts, yours truly, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.'

Oasis' Be Here Now gets a 25th Anniversary re-issue on double silver vinyl

'As well as ‘D’You Know What I Mean?’, the band’s 3rd No. 1 single, the album features the ambitious 9-minute ‘All Around The World’ plus evergreen classic ‘Stand By Me’. The epic elements of ‘Be Here Now’ are contrasted by the heartfelt introspection of ‘Don’t Go Away’ and the surreal psychedelia of ‘Magic Pie’.'

Out Fri 19th August - pre-order today.
