Following the breakup of the Police, their drummer Stewart Copeland undertook a musical Odessey through the heart of Africa in search of the roots of Rock & Roll. Originally released as both a film, (directed and produced by Jean-Pierre Dutilleux) and album in 1985, ‘The Rhythmatist’ preceded the release of ‘Graceland’ by Paul Simon which was to follow in 1986.
The album produced by Stewart along with Jeff Seitz, featured the singles ‘Koteja (Oh Bolilla)’ featuring Ray Lema a major figure in world music himself as well as ‘Gong Rock’.
Never repressed since it’s original release the brand new edition comes with exclusive refreshed artwork and is Newly mastered from the original master tapes by Phil Kinrade at Air Studios
